BANASTHALI CENTRE FOR
TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ENTREPRENEURS
(Incorporated on 26.09.2012 as a ‘Section 25
Company’ under Companies Act, 1956)
Banasthali Vidyapith aims at developing students’ personality through its
five-fold education system (Panchmukhi Vikas) and prepares women to take up
leadership roles in all walks of life. In this perspective, Vidyapith has a
functional ‘Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC)’ that encourages
entrepreneurship and self reliance among women by training, research, workshops,
competitions, event management etc.
Ministry
of Commerce & Information Technology, Government of India communicated the award
of prestigious TIDE (Technology Incubation& Development of Entrepreneurs)
project to Banasthali Vidyapith via its letter dated 12.03.2012. Under the TIDE
scheme Vidyapith could commence the activities of funding & mentoring the
budding entrepreneurs in an incubation cell located in the campus but required a
separate legal vehicle in form of a Section 25 company.
On
September 26, 2012 the Registrar of Companies, Rajasthan issued a Certificate of
Incorporation certifying ‘Banasthali Centre for Technology Incubation and
Development of Entrepreneurs’ as a private limited company under section 25
of the Companies Act 1956. Now with a legal vehicle (acronym: B-TIDE) in place
the company would be able to provide risk capital to Entrepreneurs. B-TIDE
would usher new set of opportunities by serving as a boon for commercialising
new ideas and has potential to bring laurels to Vidyapith in the time to come.
Objectives of the Centre under TIDE scheme:

Launching and sustaining an Incubation Centre in Banasthali Vidyapith by
nurturing Technology Entrepreneurship Development for commercial usage in
areas of Electronics and ICT.

Promoting product oriented research and development.
-
Encouraging development of indigenous products and packages and bridging the
gap between R & D and commercialization.

And
promoting other activities of EDC (Entrepreneurship Development Cell) at
Banasthali Vidyapith.
Funding
The
funding would be available as a mix of loan and equity. The funding in form of
loan @ 3.5% per annum (charged on monthly reducing balance) would be made for a
duration not exceeding 2 years from date of registration of the company or
admission to incubation cell of B-TIDE whichever is later. Maximum funding would
be upto Rs. 25 lacs (subject to maximum 80% of project cost and not more than
50% of total funding as Equity Capital). The B-TIDE can sell the Equity Shares
at an appropriate time.
Application to B-TIDE
The
number of applicants for a business proposal should normally not exceed three.
The applicant/s should note the following aspects before applying:
i)
Qualification :
-
Students/Alumni of Banasthali Vidyapith proposing an innovative idea in areas of
Electronics and/or ICT with an aim to commercialize the concept and legally
eligible to sign a contract.
OR
- Technology based start-up companies encouraged by entrepreneurs and legally
eligible to sign a contract and desirous of R&D partnership in areas of
Electronics and/or ICT with the institute or a company, with the target of
commercializing a novel technological idea, and setting up a technology business
enterprise.
ii)
Eligibility:
Following
will be the eligibility criteria for admission to incubation cell:
- The company proposed to be incubateed must get registered
as a private limited company with RoC (Registrar of Companies). An organization
(i.e. Proprietorship or Partnership firm) not registered with RoC would have to
do so within 6 months
of admission or before the disbursal of seed fund, whichever is earlier.
- The
B-TIDE would consider proposals only in areas of Electronics and ICT. Acceptable
businesses would involve innovation, technology-based product, idea or service.
- Realistic
business plan in prescribed format (Annexure I ) exhibiting business
details and projections must be submitted during the application phase.
iii)
Application Procedure :
Step I:
Submit Business Plan (B-Plan):
As a first step in the admissions process, the
prospective entrepreneur should submit the B-Plan to an Incubation Review
Committee (IRC) of B-TIDE, Banasthali Vidyapith. For this, prospective
entrepreneur has to fill the business plan in prescribed format (Annexure I ).
The business plan can be submitted anytime during the year; however in hard
copy form only by addressing it to The Chairman, B-TIDE, Vidya Mandir,
Banasthali Vidyapith, PIN 304022, Rajasthan. For any clarifications/follow up an

Step II:
Screening:
The IRC
would evaluate every B-Plan proposal received by it and only if a B-Plan is
found appropriate; would ask the prospective entrepreneur to make a presentation
before IRC at Banasthali Vidyapith. All communications to applicant/s would be
made via email.
Step III: Presentation
before evaluation committee (IRC):
After evaluating the feasibility of business plan the evaluation committee may
ask for additional information from the shortlisted
prospective entrepreneurs.
